About Us

University of Westminster Students' Union Film Society (Est. 2011) provides weekly screenings for Students, Staff, Alumni and members of the public - presenting a range of contemporary and classic films including Blockbusters, Indie Films, Cult Classics, Arthouse & World Cinema. Before our feature presentations we invite local, national and international filmmakers and student filmmakers across our roster of creative courses at the University to showcase their work. We also host Q&As and Premieres.

The Film Society endeavours to create an inviting atmosphere to watch, discuss and enjoy films - with attendees ranging from dedicated cinephiles to regular lovers of movies. We gear ourselves towards presenting films that our attendees want to watch rather than imposing a selection. When you book your ticket, you're invited to write down a film you'd like to see be exhibited next at Film Society - which we then take into consideration in our weekly Committee Meetings.

We screen films in our DTS 7.1 Surround Sound Cinema-Grade Auditorium, our main venue which seats 212, every Tuesday between 6-9pm with selected off-programme screenings in our more intimate venue; The Dubbing Theatre which seats 66. UWSU Film Society is also closely partnered with the Film Department at University of Westminster.

​​The Westminster Film School operates one of the best-known and highly regarded Film Production Courses in the world, with an international reputation for its academic and practical teaching. We aim to develop thinking film makers who have something to say to, and about, the world. Our students’ films are shown at festivals all over the world, and have won Student Academy Awards and a host of honours in both the UK and internationally.
